Though winemakers have been producing sparkling rose in the Prosecco region for a while, Prosecco Rose only became an official "thing" in 2020! The wines that do reach DOC status are extremely high quality, requiring a longer and stricter aging period than regular Prosecco to ensure complexity. Moreover, they blend up to 15% Pinot Noir (known as Pinot Nero in Italy) with the traditional white Glera grape, creating a complex, richly fruited style. We were delighted to taste this vintage Prosecco Rose from Antonio Facchin, which is dry and refreshing yet complex! Red fruit and white flower aromas lead into complex flavors of red currant, raspberry, cherry, and citrus on the palate. Bright acidity and persistent bubbles lead into a clean finish with a fine mousse.
