Maria Casanova’s Cava is the expression of family commitment. The winery was born in 1984 with the purpose of making authentic, personal, and unique Cavas which represent the expression of the land. Today, Jordi and Jacint Carafi Casanovas are at the helm of production. The estate is located in the heart of the Penedes region, where the soil and climate enable the production of unique grapes. Their bottlings are produced in the traditional Champagne method, but in true Cava fashion they are pioneers of incorporating foreign varietals into their selections. True to their philosophy, Maria Casanovas produces only complex Brut Nature wines, which are completely dry and see no dosage.
“Pale yellow color. Ripe citrus/orchard fruits, a hint of honey and smoky lees on the deeply perfumed nose. Offers nicely concentrated orange, pear nectar and buttered toast flavors that are braced and sharpened by a core of juicy acidity. Finishes toasty and long, leaving hints of chamomile, succulent herbs and orange pith behind.” – 90 Points, Vinous
