Vinhos Borges is one of the best value producers in Portugal's Douro region, not just for still wines but for ports too. In a time when wine prices - particularly for European wine - are skyrocketing, that's a major plus! This is a tawny port, which is nuttier, oakier, and more ageable than a ruby port. This is a smooth and bold style of tawny with prominent caramel and wood flavors, indicating that the wine has been aged well. Flavors of dried apricot, quince, and vanilla are well integrated for a persistent and sweet finish. The blend - comprised of Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barroca, Tinto Cão, and Tinta Roriz - is 6-7 years old and aged in wooden casks. Tawny ports are especially favored as a cocktail ingredient.
